Arturo López

PhD in Ecology, Arturo started working for sustainability in developing countries in 1977. Until 1992 he lived mainly in Colombia, Mexico and Costa Rica, promoting and coordinating nature conservation and rural development programs with NGOs, governments, AID Agencies and indigenous communities.

In the last 10 years Arturo has worked mainly around the Mediterranean basin, particularly promoting and developing with United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) the Mediterranean network of marine protected areas (SPAMI), and between 2003 and 2015 has directed the established and/or management planning of over 10 such areas in Tunisia, Morocco, Croatia, Israel, Turkey and Spain.

He now lives in Ibiza, where he is generously advising IPF and our local partners on local marine initiatives.
