Ronnie Andersen

Ronnie arrived on Ibiza around 10 years ago. Initially drawn to the island to continue his professional career as a biographer and journalist, he changed plans when he heard about one of the most endangered pig breeds in the world. With farming deeply ingrained in his Irish blood Ronnie quickly became involved with the local ibizencan farming community. Within a year he acquired his farm and he started a successful mission to save the black pig and other rare breeds from the island, working alongside with la Federació Pitiusa de Races Autòctones.

Alongside the breeding programme Ronnie established an educational facility at the farm for local schoolchildren. Some 1.500 children a year pass through the farm.

Ronnie’s dream is to help to secure –with the help from all the other farmers- a caring, sustainable and compassionate future for agriculture on Ibiza.
